Alumnae 2019
Tamar Blum

Tamar Blum is an alumna from Nishmat’s Shiur Aleph program. She was inspired at Nishmat to study education and worked as a teacher for several years. Tamar then decided to follow a second dream of hers and study Theater at Haifa University. She specialized in community theater and currently runs several social theater groups in Jerusalem. Tamar believes in the power of drama to foster quality connections between people through working to reveal ones’ imagination and spirit. Some of the interesting theatre groups she has worked with are: A mixed group of Holocaust survivors and young girls, a group of blind actors, and  a group of at-risk teens acting out a modern-day version of Megillat Rut.

A native of Montreal, Yoetzet Halacha Hadassa Klein received a BA in History and Mathematics from Columbia University in NY and an MA in Modern Jewish History from New York University. She and her family made aliyah in 1999 and settled in Ramat Gan. Hadassa has been an active kallah teacher for the past 20 years, and this sparked her interest in studying to be a Yoetzet Halacha in Nishmat’s Keren Ariel Yoetzet Halacha Fellowship. After graduating the program in 2017, Hadassa taught a Nishmat sponsored Kallah Teacher training course in Raanana with veteran Yoetzet Halacha, Dr. Deena Zimmerman. Hadassa currently teaches Torah to gap year students in Midreshet Torah V’Chesed affiliated with EMUNAH’s Beit Elazraki, and has been an active respondent on Nishmat’s Golda Koschitzky Halachic Hotline for the last year and a half. “I derive tremendous satisfaction from answering calls on the hotline,” Hadassa explained. “I feel very thankful to have the opportunity to share the knowledge I gained and to help other women in their time of need. The callers are so appreciative of this service.”
