Sigd, the Ethiopian Jewish day of yearning for Jerusalem that became an Israeli national holiday, is a cross-cultural highlight of the year at Nishmat. Above, Ma’ayan student (Class of 2021) arranged a display for this week’s Sigd celebration. It will showcase Ethiopian-Jewish food, dress, customs, and a soul-searching play written and presented by Ma’ayan pre-college students. This year, only Nishmat students will be in the audience. Maayan parents, who usually attend, will view their daughters’ play live-streamed, in accordance with Covid-19 protocols. To watch highlights of last year’s Sigd play, click here.
