“I’m not sure I can truly convey the privilege I felt participating in Nishmat’s three week Summer Beit Midrash. The tight knit staff and faculty headed by Rabbanit Chana Henkin work together to make Nishmat a welcoming and dynamic place for women of all ages to connect to Torat Eretz Yisrael. I enjoyed the in-depth chavruta learning as well as presentations by contemporary leaders, trips and volunteer work that gave me a greater appreciation and awareness of our heritage, Israel’s growth, vitality and kedushah. On a daily level, I liked the convenience of staying in Nishmat’s dorms and being able to get up early to daven on the garden rooftop, meet fellow classmates for meals, easily attend classes throughout the day as well be able to hop on the bus nearby to visit family and friends in Jerusalem.”
“I had a wonderful three weeks at Nishmat’s summer program. The Torah learning was incredible from the topics, to the teachers and the students. There were women from all over, and different levels of textual ability. The topics were relevant to real life and it was amazing to watch as the text came alive. The texts were great jumping off points for in depth conversations that presented different perspectives. It was a wonderful group that bonded together over the classes, in chevrutot and on the tiyulim. Learning in the Beit Midrash was invigorating and exactly what my mind and neshama needed. I am looking forward to returning next summer.”
“The Nishmat Summer Program was one of the most extraordinary programs that I have participated in. The program set my neshama ablaze and invigorated me to continue my learning journey. I also had the pleasure of learning with Rabbanit Henkin every morning setting my learning up for the day with positive intentions and focused intensity. I channel the energy I felt at Nishmat every time I sit to learn, digest and live a Torah learning and loving life. I am grateful for my summer spent there and look forward to engaging in the program again.”
“To say that the experience I had at Nishmat was like breathing again would be an understatement. Immersing myself in Torah learning for three weeks was the most valuable gift I had given myself in a long time. The classes and teachers were both intellectually stimulating, yet grounded in real life. Additionally, Nishmat’s learning cohort is an inter-generational group where mature people of all ages come together and share their perspectives and reflections on what they are learning.”
